Asthma and Sports
Anyone with asthma can play sports and be great at
them. There is nothing stopping them if they set their mind to
doing what they like the most. Many Olympic athletes have
asthma and they did more than just participate in the sports,
they won medals to show off their hard work and effort. It can
happen for anyone.
If you want to play sports and have asthma, you can do it with
the right information and the right help. If you have asthma,
you should be careful and use the proper judgment when you are
playing sports that require a lot of physical activity. You
have to know your limits and you should know when to take it
easy. You do not want to push yourself too hard. You will not
want to make your lungs work harder than what they have to.
Exercise can be strenuous work too when you have asthma. You
should figure out how to do them without over exerting your
body. However, if you are exercising, you will find it to help
your asthma and make it easier to sleep and rest. You will
stronger and more powerful if you are doing exercises for your
asthma. You will make your life more powerful and better for
your self when you are willing to do a little bit of work.

There are different sports that are less likely
to trigger an asthma attack. Swimming and skiing are great for
asthma. You will not have to worry so much because you are not
pushing your body too hard when you are downhill skiing and
swimming. Sports like baseball, football, track, and gymnastics
can be great for people with asthma too. You just have to know
when to slow down a bit and give yourself a break.
Long distance running and biking maybe too much for someone
that has asthma. You will have to learn to pace yourself and
slow down when necessary. You will not want to push your lungs
too hard. If your chest begins to hurt, you should let off and
take a break for a while.
Before playing sports, you should make sure that you have your
asthma under control. You need to make sure that you have your
inhaler with you at all times. The best way to get asthma under
control is to follow a great asthma action plan. You will want
to make sure that you have all your prescribed asthma
medication so that you are able to manage it. You should not
skip your medications and you will want to make sure that you
continue to take them until otherwise directed by the doctor.
If you forget to take the medicine, you should take it as soon
as you remember. Forgetting may make you have a flare up of an
attack.
Always talk to your doctor first to make sure that you have the
green light to go ahead and try the sports that you want to. If
he says that you should go for it, you should make it a goal.
You may just surprise yourself and do great.
