Asthma in Children
Asthma is a very serious problem for many children. It can
affect them in a way that makes them feel very bad. It can very
well be a life threatening illness as well. It can be treated
with medications that can prevent and control asthma attacks.
However, it can be difficult to understand how all of the
different medications are supposed to be used and what you
should be doing to help take care of the asthma in your
child.
There are many symptoms of asthma for most children. They will
normally be coughing, wheezing, and having trouble breathing.
They may have these symptoms brought on by a cold or changes in
the weather. They may also have them because of some kind of
physical activity that they are performing. Sometimes smoke,
animals, mold, and pollution can bring on an asthma attack. You
should learn about the different things that can cause an
asthma attack and keep them from your child.

Asthma is usually easy to diagnose in a child
who is wheezing and having trouble breathing, but it becomes
more difficult if the child only has a cough, or cough variant
asthma. You need to pay attention and make sure that your child
is not wheezing. If they are, you should check their breathing
and make sure that they are not having any trouble getting air
into their pathways.
You need to take your child to a doctor as soon as you think
they have asthma. You will find that they will perform a
serious of tests and then determine if the child has asthma or
not. They will find out if they should be on any type of
medication to control the asthma as well. They will tell you if
they should limit their exercise or if they are restricted to
doing any type of physical activity.
The medications that your child will take are usually only as
needed medications. If you are using them on a regular basis
like weekly or daily, your child's asthma is not being properly
controlled and you may have to figure out a different form of
medication. You will have to make sure that you speak to your
child's health care professional to determine if they are on
the right medication or not.
Sometimes, it will only mean that you will have to find a
different method of medication. You may have to go on something
a bit stronger or make some necessary lifestyle changes to be
sure that your child's asthma is controlled. You will want to
be sure that you are taking the necessary precautions so that
your child can live a happy and healthy life with no
complications due to the asthma.
